Downtown

On Saturday, the elementary vice principal came and picked up a few of us to take us to the market downtown and to "zone one" which is the old, historical part of town. It was really cool and we had a good time shopping around. I didn't buy much because I want to wait until I am settled into my apartment before I start buying a lot of decorative stuff. But they had beautiful cloth, many handicrafts, and many other things to choose from. Here are just a few pictures I snapped. I didn't take too many as we weren't sure if it was "safe" to have our cameras out at all times! :) This first one is of the fountain that is in the middle of the town square.

I can't remember if this building is the one that is the old President's mansion or not. I am pretty sure it is!

Jean Ah and I.....my old hotel roommate......in the square!

A lady in very traditional clothing selling many woven goods in the square

Another old beautiful building!!!

Shopping and bargaining in the market!

Jean Ah looking thrilled as always!

The market had three levels, this was in the bottom level.....they just sold all kinds of very local items.

Another view of the basement level.
